4 Hours Work in 20 Minutes Flat
I enjoyed the Vineyard last weekend, but my favorite part was not the worship, the teaching or even the potluck. My favorite was the afterwards part. After we had worshiped and eaten, a bunch of us went across the street to help a lady move from one apartment to another. The 15 people looked like a bunch of ants hauling boxes and goods down from the 3rd floor and then up another set of stairs across the way. We took about 20 minutes and saved the lady and her two boys about four hours of work. They were moved.

As I drove home, I thought about the power of the faith community, the church, the followers of Jesus. When a few, joined together in common purpose, intentionally display love, kindness, and sacrifice, then families, apartment complexes, and neighborhoods are impacted.
As we seek God for creative ways to engage our world, we are leaving behind the old adage, “20% of the people do 80% of the work” or “20% of the people invest 80% of the giving.” We are saying together, we can leverage our 20 minutes with others and accomplish 4 hours of work. We can leverage our giving with others and touch our community deeply.
Jesus leveraged the lives of 12 to touch the world, what will happen when we let Jesus leverage 40 of us?
Ask yourself, “if everyone were following my example of love, generosity, and sacrifice, would Jesus and His kingdom be honored? Would lives be touched? Would the Vineyard flourish?” I hope so!
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” -Ephesians 4:15f
