8 28
Three years ago today we bought our first home. We are thankful that the banks were lending money like crazy back then because I didn’t have a job. We were just starting to put a team together to plant the Vineyard and I was looking for some painting jobs. We borrowed 100% and wondered how’d we make our mortgage payments. We did a no-doc loan. We stated that we’d be making x dollars, but we didn’t tell them we didn’t know if the next dollar was coming . As August 28, 2006 approached, I started to have doubts. “What was I doing? What am I thinking?” It hit me one day that August 28 can be written at 8/28. The Lord reminded me that Romans 8/28 says that God causes all things to work together for good to them that love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. I sensed God’s peace that He was behind all of this and it was going to be o.k. 36 months later, we’ve never missed a payment.
The other day I saw something I’d never seen before. A double decker rainbow. If you look in the photo, you can see a second rainbow faintly over top the first one (it was better live). God sent the first rainbow as a promise to Noah of His enduring faithfulness. When you see a double decker rainbow, it is almost like God is saying, “I’m really, really, really faithful.” He has been and I’m glad He continues to be!
